Enjoyable

I’ve always liked clearing overgrown neglected gardens (not through the owner’s fault.. Many times it’s a result of time and manageability) and attempting to restore them to hire they would have looked.

Generally I try not to use chemical weedkillers.. Just because you still have to clear the dead weeds once the chemicals have worked, so effectively you have to do it twice!

I use my trusty weed remover on paving slabs which gets in the cracks and try to get the root out. In beds a garden fork and a hand fork are most effective.

Dealing with pernicious weeds such as ground elder and bindweed I find that grabbing a handful, while levering with the garden fork held to get as many roots as possible. Obviously you never get rid of all of them but, over time it will weaken and resubmit reduce them.
