Some interesting work this week –
A customer’s beloved tree peony was damaged in high winds – the first year that each of his 3 plants have had 3 blooms, and growing well; after expanding the bed and adding 20 bags of compost and 10 of manure last autumn. I discovered the damage and saw that a branch with the blooms was hanging –
Took my old handkerchief ( a long time habit carrying one) and tore it into strips – wrapped the broken branch tightly – sprayed it with water and then wrapped duck tape around it –

2 weeks later and the blooms survived and new growth appearing above the break, plant surgery succesful!

surgery
blooms
new growth
Other jobs – planting 30 chrysanthemums, renovating a rock garden (weeding and planting), laying new turf, clearing and installing fence posts for wire fencing and cutting grass to allow wildflower turf to stand out (spot the mirror image of natural wildflowers) and the front bed planted with pansies in February – beautiful display – soon to be followed by the roses and cosmos.
