Roses

This is a branch of an old rose (over 20 years old) which has old bare branches with most of the new growth coming at the end of the branches.

In February I cut a notch with a sharp knife just above a bud (swollen point on the branch)

Now at the beginning of April – signs that a shoot is developing – so if all goes well this will improve the structure of the branching and fill out the bare areas.
