Grass cutting

Now spring is here everyone wants to cut their grass – some tips.

Set lawnmower high – grass is still coming out of winter dormancy so cutting too short can stress it and will impact on growth in the year ahead.

Cutting grass too short at any time of the year will encourage weeds and moss, if you let your grass be a little higher this year it will crowd out weeds and moss to some extent, if it’s too short the weeds and moss dominate. Another benefit is you’ll keep some of the wildflowers in the grass – clover, birds foot trefoil and others which will greatly benefit bees and other nectar feeding animals.
